Rules

Big Rules:
1. Be active! You're required to do a mandatory of three journals a month for each character and one thread (But remember rule 3)--- Don't be lame and do your three journals and not comment in other people's journals. We will notice if you're only active for yourself and not with other characters and players. There will be one group thread a month that will not be mandatory and will not count as your thread for the month. These threads are for interaction purposes.

2. No Mary Sues or Gary Stues. All characters are going to have some things they're good at, and that's normal but not everything. If your character is brilliant, beautiful, super sweet, Prefect, and Quidditch Captain, then they don't belong here. Do note that certain characters will be captains, Prefects, Head Boys, and Head Girls because canon says so.

3. No one liners. This does not include owls or journal entry replies. Not every character is the sort of person to write novels in their journal, which is fine. It would be nice to see them write privately then, so we as players understand them better. We like detail in the threads. We understand that some people like to do lots of short replies and if that works for you, then that's fine, but make sure the person you're RPing with is cool with this method. Some people thrive on details.

3. No drama llamas. Seriously, if you don't like someone you're RPing with or you had some sort of fight with them out of character, don't bring that into the game. The only drama allowed here is character drama and assorted fun things we throw at you. Also, please don't take a mean character personally OR use cruel characters to purposefully offend people! This will lead to drama llamas.

4. Because this game will involve NC-17 material, all members must be 17 and older. Exceptions might be made on a case by case examination. It's still unlikely.

5. Remember that a PB is not equal to the character they portray or their writer. Yes, there's gossip about some celebrities and others might have taken on some unsavory roles, but that does not reflect on the character or the writer. Also, remember we know our PBs are hot/ugly/weird/bitchy/cute/silly looking. That's probably why we picked them. The PB is just the lure, most players are happier when you like their characters as characters.

6. If your userinfo is locked, it can only be friend-lock! You have to include a picture of what your character looks like currently in the game and keep everything as up to date as possible (i.e. mention of the battle!). Go here if you aren't sure if you have everything you need. You can include extra information, theme songs, theme books, ect, but do not post pictures of your character's family.

7. NO stylized icons, like you might see at Livejournal or on personal journals. Creative cutting and some simple photoshopping is acceptable, but abstract colors and stamps distract from the face and/or emotion you're looking to show with that icon. This also means that your icons should be as close to 100x100 as possible. On this note, animated icons are only acceptable in the OCC or Chips Ahoi.

Posting Rules
1. All threads or logs should be posted with the following heading:
Who: Who is involved! If it's open, then just put "[Insert Character Name] and Open"
Where: Where did this occur? Please keep in mind if your characters are doing NC17 style activities in the commons room, then it's not going to be as topic secret as they'd like it to be more often than not.
When: A day of the month and time of day. Monday Evening. Tuesdays after curfew. That's all you need. If it's backdated, make sure to note that and add the actual date!
What: A summary of what happened to save mods a bit of time when adding memories. This can be added at the completion of the thread, just please remember to add it!
Rating: We use the MPAA Rating system here. If your thread is NC17, then Friend Lock it in the community. Aside from that, do not lock them as it encourages new members when they see threads!

Threads that are more than two paragraphs must be under an LJ-cut. The heading should be outside of the cut and the cut's text needs to pertain to the thread. We'll let song lyrics slide if we feel they work well to describe the thread. The cut is there to give you a hint of what you're not seeing. We'd prefer a line from the thread itself or a comical phrase remarking on it maybe. Non-traditional logs are acceptable like AIM, email, threading and logging by yourself as just your character or your character with their family, but don't make this a habit. Open threads are love <3

2. Make sure your journals are in your character's journal, threads are in the RPG community ([info]crynhoi_rp), your out-of-character posts in the OOC ([info]crynhoi_occ), Owls and notes go in the Owl community ([info]crynhoi_owls), and all extra crazy stuff (graphics, videos, just about anything!) in the SUPER out-of-character community ([info]chipsahoi).

3. All members must make 2 journal entries a month and 2 threads/logs posts in the main community with each character. Your 2 threads need to be with 2 different characters and preferably two different writers. We'd also like you to be interactive in the journals. Please try to have at least one of your characters' reply to all journal entries. We encourage you that if you have more than one character then these characters be very diverse compared with one another.

4. Be intelligent when you post or comment. No typing lIkE tHiS or using l337. Use proper grammar, spell check, and try to remember that these are British kids in Hogwarts. Use the Lexicon as well as British slang sites for assistance.

5. Remember that this game takes place in the 90's and no one was anyone's dawg fo' rizzle my shizzle. No one listened to Panic! at the Disco and such because they did not exist. No one had mp3 players or lap tops hanging around. A computer or cell phone at home would be reasonable, but those items do not work at Hogwarts so it'd be silly to bring them and the Carrows or Filch will confiscate and break your toys if you bring them.

6. Tag all threads with the names of the students involved as well as the month and year. Please use full first and last name! Example: Teo Derrick would not be under the tag 'Teo', but the tag 'Teodora Derrick'.

8. All logs MUST be under an LJ-cut. Rule 6 still applies!

PB Rules
We'd prefer you choose PBs that are currently school aged or currently appear school aged. Try to keep yourself on par with the others. If you can not find good quality pictures of them, then we'd suggest you make another choice. So try not to use anyone who's mass of work has been done once they started rounding 30. If we turn down a PB, we will help you by making suggestions and pointing you in a helpful direction!
We would like to add that here as everywhere, that may be exceptions made to every rule! Before the rules are stated that is.

1. Other than trying to make them look age appropriate try to make sure their age fits in well with the other people in that year. A character with a PB like Zac Efron would not be in the same grade level as a PB of Milo Ventimiglia.

2. Is your character a sibling of a played character? We sure hope then you think long and hard for a PB that looks similar to the sibling in play. Examples are say in a Marauder's Game Sirius is Tom Sturridge, well if you picked up a Regulus he'd need not to look older or have dissimilar facial characteristic, so someone like Gaspard Ulliel or Shia Labeouf is out of the question where Andrew Moss and Nicholas Hoult are pretty okay because they all have more delicate features and small eyes.(Some players who have siblings in house for pick up may have already chosen a pb)

3. Let's take a moment here to talk about people and their heritage. As much as we love our umpteenth fractions ethnicity people give their character, let's be realistic, they do have an immigrant population the higher it is the more likely a person would have it in their blood.

5. Let's take a longer moment and discuss PBs who are not white. Korean and Chinese PBs are just that Korean and Chinese, we will allow one to be used for the other. Japanese people are a homogenized society, their look is different than other Asians. Yes, we know there is a large Korean population in Japan, and we will consider it just know that we will stick to the previous mentioned statement more likely than not. Also Hispanics are not Greeks, Italians, or Arabs, especially not Indians, even if the O.C. used Indian actress, Navi Rawat, for a Southern California Latino girl.

4. If your PB is a happy goofy character and you choose a model whose majority of pictures are a stern model pout, then choose someone else please. Models are appropriate for the appropriate type of character.

6. Not all people smut, we understand this, but the possibility of it happening in game is high. So as your character may smut, in a LOCKED THREAD, your PB can not be under the age of 18 because that is technically considered pornography.... Blame LJ.

Banned:
Scene Queens (Suicide Girls, Myspace girls, ect.)
Porn stars
Visual Kei
Politicians (Royalty is acceptable!)
Prominent pop stars (exceptions will be made, such as Mandy Moore who is also an actress)
